Moxy, the "playful" new River North hotel (530 N. LaSalle Dr.) from Marriott, intends to be more than a spot to stash your stuff and sleep.
Look no further than the check-in desk: Bar Moxy, considered the "hub of the hotel," is where guests check in, reserve a room or, yes, grab a drink. Not far away, in the Living Room, Moxy offers a podcast booth, where local podcasters can record and anyone can come to listen. The Moxy Soundoff Podcast Series also records there live. Hungry? Zombie Taco, a "food truck inspired concept," sells 24-7 eats inside the hotel.
Following Moxy's "fun hunter" mentality, there's something called the "Inner Circle" -- interior-facing rooms where guests can see the hotel's custom art installation and communicate with guests from other Inner Circle rooms. "Just pull back your curtains and give a wave to those across the courtyard, or use the complimentary light boxes to create a custom message (meet me at 6 pm downstairs for a drink?). Not for the timid!"
“Moxy flips the conventional hotel experience on its head," said Vicki Poulos, senior global brand director for Moxy Hotels, "and we’re excited to bring this vibrant concept to Chicago for the first time with the opening of Moxy Chicago Downtown."
