Navy Pier Reaches New Heights With Outdoor Rock Climbing Wall

A 24-foot-tall rock climbing wall comes to Navy Pier at the end of July

Navy Pier decided to treat itself to another gift following its 100th anniversary last week.

The Chicago landmark is reaching new heights with the addition of a 24-foot rock climbing wall at the end of July. Originally premiering as a part of the Pier’s indoor “Winter Wonderfest,” the new attraction will move outside near the Centennial Wheel.

According to the Navy Pier website, tickets go on sale in mid-July. The standard price to climb is $8 per person for three minutes. The only restriction is that climbers must weigh between 40 and 250 pounds.

Three climbers are allowed to climb at a time by using the auto-belay safety system, which means there is no need for a partner, the Chicago Tribune reports.

In addition to the rock climbing wall, Navy Pier also has the Centennial Wheel, Pepsi Wave Swinger, carousel, light tower ride and remote control boats.
