These Are All the Free Events Happening at Navy Pier This Summer

The season starts with concert series "Live on the Lake!" at the Miller Lite Beer Garden beginning on May 24

It's going to be a good summer at Navy Pier.

The iconic Chicago attraction announced its summer schedule on Wednesday, releasing a full calendar of free events from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends.

The season starts with concert series "Live on the Lake!" at the Miller Lite Beer Garden beginning on May 24, Navy Pier said in a statement. That series, featuring local musicians and cover bands, will continue every weekend though Sept. 1.

Every Saturday from May 25 through Aug. 31, a live DJ series called "Wave Wall Wax" will take place at the Wave Wall platform, the venue said.

And fireworks lovers will be pleased to know that Navy Pier's signature summer celebration is returning for another year, with fireworks displays scheduled for every Wednesday and Saturday night from May 25 though Aug. 31.

Every Tuesday from June 4 through Aug. 13 (except for July 2), Navy Pier will also offer outdoor exercise classes, both high energy workouts and sunset yoga against the backdrop of both Lake Michigan and the city's skyline.

A two-day festival featuring Latinx bands and musicians called "LtiNxt" is also returning on June 14 and 15. The event will also be the kickoff to a three-day celebration of quinceaneras, giving local Latina girls turning 15 a chance to get a free photoshoot in their gowns on June 14, July 15 and August 15.

Another two-day festival is in the works, with "Chi-Soul Fest" returning on June 21 and June 22.

"Wiggleworms" and "Make Music Chicago" are also returning to Polk Bros Park, with the former, a children's music series in partnership with Old Town School of Folk Music, every Friday from June 21 through August 23, except on July 5.

Also at Polk Bros Park will be "Water Flicks", an outdoor film series every Monday from June 24 through August 12. This summer, the theme is superheroes with showings of D.C. and Marvel movies like Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and more.

On June 29, Navy Pier will celebrate pride with LGBTQ-programming that includes music, dance, arts and crafts, storytelling and more.

Navy Pier will also host its annual Fourth of July celebration this year, which draws thousands of visitors to see the fireworks show on the lakefront.

Then on July 11 and 12, "Fresh Fest" will feature young local musicians, dancers and spoken word artists in a talent showcase.

July 12 will also start the "Water Colors" live jazz music series in Polk Bros Park every Friday through Aug. 23.

"Chicago Shakespeare Theater in the Park" will also return to Navy Pier, with "A Comedy of Errors" performed from July 18 thorugh July 20 at the City Stage.

Then "Tap Fest" will feature professional tap dancers in a showcase in Polk Bros Park on July 24.

Navy Pier will host the "After School Matters Showcase" on Aug. 6 followed by "Noche Caribena" on Aug. 10.
