Former actor on MTV's faux reality show "the Hills" Spencer Pratt explained that fear of being ignored drove him to ditch his wife, Heidi Montag.

"We love each other but I'm a famewhore and I'll never grow out of it," Pratt told People.  "Heidi knows that and doesn't want that."

Pratt said the two had different philosophies on the meaning of 'good press.'

"I want every kind of press," Pratt told People.  "She believes in bad press.  There's no way my love for fame and her love for puppies will ever work out successfully."

He said that the couple's divergent views on the right kind of media exposure are nothing new.

"It's been a constant battle since we got married," Pratt said.  The couple exchanged vows last spring, an experience their fans were able to follow via Montag's Twitter updates.  Pratt said while Heidi's love for social media dimmed, his continued to burn brightly.

"She would be like, 'Are you really Tweeting that?  Are you really doing that?'" he told People.

Spencer says he is moving forward with his Heidi-less life with a new look.  "I've already gone for the blonde, spiky-haired look," he said.  "Now I'm going for the Hollywood producer look."

Pratt, who's other acting credits include playing himself in "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" has new life goals outside of the small screen.

"I'm an artist now," he told People.  "I have an easel and everything.  I'm going for an art show and a gallery."
