Vandals Target at Least 20 Homes in Naperville

Mailboxes were damaged or destroyed in most of the incidents, although at least one "For Sale" sign also fell victim to the vandals

Police in Naperville continued their search Monday for the vandal or vandals who damaged at least 20 mailboxes and signs over the weekend outside homes on the city’s far southeast side.

Sgt. Bill Davis, the Naperville Police Department’s public information officer, confirmed police were still seeking those responsible for the damage, which apparently occurred sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning.

Reports of damage were made to or noted by police one after another in electronic bulletins that were sent around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Most of the damage occurred in or near the University Heights neighborhood.

Those bulletins indicated property outside at least nine homes was damaged on the 2100 and 2200 blocks of Keim Road. There also were six reports of damage on the 2100 and 2200 blocks of University Drive, along with five on the 700 and 800 blocks of Spindletree Avenue, for a total of at least 20, according to those bulletins.

Mailboxes were damaged or destroyed in most of the incidents, although at least one "For Sale" sign also fell victim to the vandals.

Witnesses to any of the crimes, or those who believe they have information about any of the cases, were asked to call Naperville police at 630-420-6666.
