Naperville to Host Marathon in 2013

Up to 4,000 runners to compete in inaugural race

Running enthusiasts can add a new race to their schedule next year.

Naperville is planning its first official marathon on November 10, 2013.

Officials say the inaugural Naperville Marathon will be a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.

A group called Naper Events LLC is organizing the race, which will be capped at 4,000 runners.

There will be a full 26.2-mile marathon course and a half-marathon course at 13.1 miles. Registration opens Jan. 28.

Naperville Mayor George Pradel says the races should provide an economic boost for local businesses.

According to the Herald-News, the race course will be located in the south end of the city, including the Springbrook Prairie Forest Preserve.
