Naked Man Dies After Police Tasering

Police say man was in the street, became erratic and combative

An Indiana man died Sunday after he was Tasered by authorities in south suburban Thornton Sunday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Mark A. Koves, 28, of Crown Point, Ind., died at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights at 5:44 p.m, according to the medical examiner’s office.

According to a Thornton Police Department press release, officers responded to a call of a naked man in the street near the pavilion of Hubbard Park by Wolcott School. Police say the man became "very erratic and combative," and that officers were able to "subdue" him before he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The medical examiner’s office says Koves died as a result of a police Tasering.

Thornton Police do not have any further comment on the incident at this time.

According to his Facebook page, Koves was a professional wedding musician and a 2002 graduate of Merrillville Senior High School.
