Mustachioed Protestors to Occupy Wicker Park

Hairy-lipped demonstrators want their voices to be heard

Looks like everyone is taking to the streets these days.

Keep an eye out for some mustachioed "protestors" Thursday in Wicker Park as The Mustache March calls all members to "Occupy The Upper Lip."

The tongue-in-cheek event is being held a day in advance of 'Stache Bash 2011, a charity event hosted by The American Mustache Institute.

The group will be joined by a local band and anyone else who wants to join -- anyone else with a hairy upper lip, that is, including Milwaukee Brewers player John Axford who is expected to also appear.

So what exactly will they be protesting?

"It's an atrocity that just two of the 25 highest paid CEOs are Mustached Americans and it's time our voices were heard and mustaches fully savored," said Florida firefighter Brian Sheets, the reigning Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year. "What better place to do it than Wicker Park, where Mustached American hipsters run wild in their scarves and skinny jeans?"

The protest march takes place from 6-7 p.m. at the corner of Milwaukee and North Avenue.

Friday's 'Stache Bash will be held at Joe's Bar, and serves as a charitable benefit for the Movember moustache growing campaign to raise funds for The Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.
