Study Reveals Most Popular Halloween Candy in Chicago

Whether you're in the 81% that prefer to hand out candy or the 12% that leaves a bowl outside, here's what to stock up on this Halloween

The countdown to trick-or-treating has begun, and it turns out Chicagoans should stock up on Kit-Kat bars. 

The chocolate-covered wafer was announced as the most popular candy in Chicago, according to a recent study based on Google search data. Illinois as a whole favors Jolly Ranchers.

Nationwide, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are the most popular candy in 12 states, and AirHeads, Nerds, SweeTarts and Gummy Worms were the least popular. M&Ms are the most popular candy in big cities, including New York City, San Antonio, San Diego, Fort Worth and Columbus.

The survey, which was answered by 2,004 people in residential areas, showed that the average household spends just over $25 on candy while parents spend around $35.
