Police in Morton Grove tell NBC 5 they are zeroing in on a possible suspect in the hit-and-run death of an 86-year-old grandfather.
Leo Belogur was extremely active and happy, police said. They are asking for any possible witnesses to come forward.
"Every day this is just a nightmare that doesn’t seem to end," Belogur daughter Yelenea Cohen said.
Closure is what two daughters of Belogur are looking for.
"We’re definitely wondering why someone is not stepping up," Yelenea said. "How heartless does this person have to be," daughter Kathy Mieli asked.
Belogur--a Ukrainian immigrant--was on his regular walk across Shermer Avenue at greenwood Friday night when a driver hit him and kept going, police say.
"He gave up a job and life to bring us here and give us a better life," Yelena said. "Please consider his children and grandchildren and how they’ll remember grandpa."

It's not too late to make things right, she said of the driver police think hit Belogur.
"We know you didn’t do it on purpose," Mieli said. "You didn’t mean to do it that day."
Police put up traffic safety message boards this week asking witnesses to call. They’re tracking video of the offending vehicle and asking for dash-cam video from drivers in the area about 5 p.m. Friday . Glass from the damaged vehicle is being analyzed at the FBI crime lab.
Belogur's family is offering a $10,000 dollar reward.
Police are also analyzing car paint on his clothing and Cook County Crime Stoppers added an additional $1,000 to the family’s reward.
