A college student was arrested Thursday for violating the Firearm Concealed Carry Act after several guns were found inside his vehicle at Morton College in west suburban Cicero, a city spokesman said.
At approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, a witness informed police about weapons that were visible inside a Lexus SUV parked at a lot near 39th Street and Central Avenue, according to a news release.
Police found the driver, identified as Anthony Guban, 24, of Berwyn, and arrested him in class. Investigators said they don't believe Guban had any intention of committing violence against students or the public.
Officers found four semi-automatic pistols with loaded magazines in the passenger compartment and two semi-automatic rifles with loaded magazines in the trunk area of the SUV.
With his mother's constent, detectives searched Guban's home and found 13 more weapons, including rifles, handguns and carbines along with more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition and weapon accessories.
Guban has a valid Concealed Carry License and FOID card, the news release stated.
