Morin, Shaw Among Blackhawks Celebrating Movember

The Chicago Blackhawks know a thing or two about growing facial hair each spring, but several players will be taking their follicular talents to November as they help raise money and awareness for prostate and testicular cancer.

That’s because seven players will be participating in Movember, a month-long event to raise money and awareness for men’s health issues. Forwards Daniel Carcillo, Jeremy Morin, Andrew Shaw, Ben Smith and Kris Versteeg will join defenseman David Rundblad and goaltender Corey Crawford in growing mustaches for the annual event, and the team is asking fans to join in on the fun.

Fans can visit the team’s “Movember” page to pledge their support, promise to grow a mustache, or most importantly of all, to donate money to the cause. Donations will help in the fight against prostate and testicular cancer, as well as to raise awareness for mental health issues in the community.

The group of players represents an entirely new crop from last year, as guys like Patrick Kane and Brandon Saad participated in the 2013 edition. Odds are strong that with players like Crawford and Carcillo in the mix that this year’s team should put up a more impressive effort.
