Republican Congressman Peter Roskam has fended off a challenge from Democrat Jill Morgenthaler to win a second term.
It's the second time Roskam has defeated a military veteran for his seat in Washington from Illinois' 6th Congressional District in suburban Chicago.
With 67 percent of precincts reporting, Roskam had 58 percent and Morgenthaler had 42 percent.
In 2006, Roskam edged out Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth, who lost both her legs in combat, in one of the nation's most hotly contested congressional races.
Morgenthaler's 30-year Army career took her to Korea, Berlin, Bosnia and Iraq.
