Warning: You may need to take a different route Friday if you commute downtown.
The Chicago Department of Transportation closed off the intersection of Wacker Drive and Lake Street Friday morning as more than 125 concrete trucks deliver the makings of the new intersection at Wacker and Randolph.
The intersection is the first of seven to be rebuilt as part of the Wacker Drive reconstruction project.
Transportation officials expect the work to take eight hours, weather permitting.
When completed, the amount of concrete used would be enough to cover roughly 18 city blocks of sidewalk.
The Wacker Drive reconstruction started at the beginning of the year. This installment is expected to continue through mid-summer.
