More Money Problems For Walsh

Congressman Child Support

It was bad enough when Rep. Joe Walsh, Tea Party-Ill., didn’t have enough money to support his children. But now things have gotten even worse: he doesn’t have enough money to support his political career.

As he prepares for a re-election campaign in a district re-drawn to favor a Democrat, Walsh has raised only $38,169 in the first two months of 2012.

According to Politico:
A Democratic source notes that number is barely enough to cover the $24,015 he still owes in legal fees.

Walsh spent more than three times as much during the same period but still has $371,408 on hand.

On Wednesday night, Walsh held a fundraiser at the Union League Club, with tickets starting at $500 and going all the way up to $5,000.

In November, Walsh will face the winner of next week’s Democratic primary: businessman Raja Krishnamoorthi, or former Assistant Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs Tammy Duckworth.
