Mike Tirico to Call NHL Game for 1st Time Ever as Blackhawks Face Red Wings

Tirico, who signed with NBC in 2016, will call an NHL game for the first time in his career

The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings have an historic rivalry, but one broadcaster will use the rivalry to do something he's never done in his career. 

NBC’s Mike Tirico, known primarily for his work covering the NFL and golf for NBC, will make his NHL play-by-play debut for the game between the teams on Feb. 20, as he sits down beside Eddie Olczyk for the broadcast on NBCSN.

Tirico, who also calls Notre Dame football games for the network, signed with NBC in 2016, and has done some anchoring during hockey events, including the recent NHL All-Star Game in San Jose.
