A homeless person is suspected in the stabbing of a software company’s CEO found mortally wounded on a bustling Chicago street over the weekend.
Miguel Beedle of Park Ridge, emerged from an alley with a stab wound to the neck about 2:27 a.m. Friday in the 400 block of North State Street, Chicago police said. He was later pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as “Miguel” but friends and family called him Mike.
Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Wednesday detectives were still investigating Beedle’s death.
“We have good leads in the case thanks to helpful video,” he said in an email.”(We) suspect that (a) homeless individual stabbed him after a possible robbery.”
Police were still attempting to locate the suspect, he said.
Beedle was the CEO and founder of Enterprise Scrum Inc., a software coaching and training company based in Bannockburn.
The voicemail for the company’s listed number was full and emails sent to the business were not returned.

Jeff Sutherland, chairman of Massachusetts-based Scrum Inc., released a statement after Beedle’s death calling him “an amazing and magical guy.”
“He is irreplaceable in the Scrum community and he will be missed greatly,” Sutherland said.
A GoFundMe for Beedle’s family raised more than $44,000 in four days. Dozens of comments recall Beedle as a positive influence in his profession and a loving husband and father of six children.
One commenter, MariaElena Hayes, recalled going to high School with Beedle in Mexico and staying in touch with him over the years in a WhatsApp group.
“My children will not be born in this country,” she recalled him saying as a young student. “I want my children to be born and live in a safe country.”
Efforts to contact Beedle’s wife were unsuccessful.
