Michael J. Fox Congratulates Cubs With ‘Back to the Future' Reference

It was predicted in the 1985 film “Back to the Future II” that the Chicago Cubs would win the World Series, and even though that movie ended up being off by one year, the star of the iconic film congratulated the Cubs anyway after their historic achievement.

Marty McFly himself, aka Michael J. Fox, took to Twitter to send his well wishes to the Cubs on winning their first championship in 108 years: [[400305181, C]]

"Only off by a year, not bad. Congrats @Cubs. This is so heavy. #FlyTheW," the actor's tweet reads.

Fox isn’t the only contributor to the “Back to the Future” movies to weigh in on the Cubs’ championship. Screenwriter Bob Gale was interviewed about the team’s title last week, and he expressed disappointment that the running jokes about the Cubs’ repeated failures will no longer be funny.

"So the question now is: so, they have won, is the joke ever going to be funny again?," Gale asked. "It was mixed emotions because I was thinking if the Cubs lose, people will still laugh at the joke and if the Cubs win, then we made an almost accurate prediction."

We’re sure that Cubs fans won’t mind the fact that the joke is no longer funny, as the team finally clinched a championship and fulfilled the lifelong dreams of millions of fans worldwide.
