Trade Rumors Continue to Swirl Around Jimmy Butler

Butler requested a trade three weeks ago as he heads into the final season of his contract

Former Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler is still in limbo with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but a team is reportedly pushing hard to get him on the trade market.

Butler, who requested a trade from the Timberwolves three weeks ago, was on the verge of being dealt to the Miami Heat in recent weeks, but the trade fell apart at the last minute, according to multiple reports.

Now, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Heat are looking to restart talks to acquire Butler from the Timberwolves.

Butler, who averaged 22.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game with the Timberwolves last season, requested a trade prior to the start of his final season on his current contract. Tensions with head coach Tom Thibodeau and star player Karl Anthony-Towns reportedly led to the demand, and Butler hasn’t been practicing with the team as the regular season approaches.

The regular season will tip-off for the Timberwolves on Oct. 17 when they head to San Antonio to take on the Spurs.
