Metra Train Strikes Pedestrian Near Wilmette, Service Halted in the Area

All inbound and outbound train movement was halted near Wilmette during rush hour Wednesday after Metra officials said a train struck a pedestrian. 

Train no. 320 on Metra's Union Pacific-North Line, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:26 a.m., hit a pedestrian just after 8 a.m. 

Wilmette officials said the accident at the Central Avenue crossing was fatal. 

Central Avenue was closed between 12th Street and Green Bay Road. 

Extensive delays were expected on Metra. The CTA was also honoring Metra tickets on the Purple Line, Red Line and Brown Line.
