Inbound and outbound trains on Metra's Rock Island District line were halted near Tinley Park after a pedestrian was hit by a train, the transit agency said.
Train no. 413 struck a pedestrian just before 6 p.m.
Trains were cleared to proceed through the area just after 7 p.m. but speed was restricted and extensive delays were expected.
