Metra trains were delayed on the Union Pacific Northwest Line after a pedestrian was struck by a freight train early Thursday in Barrington.
Inbound an outbound trains were facing extensive delays because of the freight train striking a pedestrian near the Barrington Station, 201 S. Spring St., according to a service alert posted by Metra at 4:45 a.m.
As of 6:15 a.m., trains were delayed by up to 83 minutes and several trains were not operating at all, according to Metra.
The CTA Blue Line will honor Metra tickets until further notice, except for O’Hare, as an alternative for affected customers.
