2nd Metra Board Member Resigns

Paul Darley represented DuPage County

A second member of Metra's Board of Directors resigned Tuesday.

In his resignation letter, Paul Darley, who represented DuPage County, cited calls from many asking for Metra board members to resign, county Chairman Dan Cronin said.

Cronin said he "regretfully" accepted Darley's resignation.

The commuter rail agency has been embroiled in legal problems since ousted CEO Alex Clifford left with a $718,000 separation agreement. Clifford has said he was forced out of the agency for resisting pressure from House Speaker Michael Madigan and others over jobs and construction contracts.

That's sparked a state investigation. Darley said he supports a comprehensive investigation and that Illinois taxpayers "have a right to know everything that took place at Metra."

Mike McCoy resigned from the Board of Directors earlier this month, saying he no longer had "the time or desire to continue serving."
