Construction will cause schedule changes on Metra Electric and South Chicago trains on Saturday night and Sunday morning, Metra announced.
According to the transit service, the installation of metal support beams for a new pedestrian bridge that spans Lake Shore Drive will cause some trains to be cancelled, and will cause some trains to change their routes.
Here are the Metra Electric (which runs from University Park to Millennium Station) changes for Saturday night:
- Inbound train 838, departing from University Park at 11:40 p.m. and heading toward Chicago, will stop at the 51st/53rd Street station, and a bus will take passengers from that station to Millennium Station. No intermediate stops between 51st Street and Millennium Station will be made.
- Outbound train 839, scheduled to leave at 12:35 a.m., will not depart from Millennium Station. Instead, a shuttle bus, parked between Washington and Randolph Streets on the west side of Michigan Avenue, will take passengers to the 51st/53rd Street station, where a train will take customers the rest of the way and will make all remaining local stops.
Here are the South Chicago (stops between 93rd Street and Millennium Station) trains Impacted:
- Inbound train 8338, scheduled to depart from 93rd Street at 11:39 p.m., will be cancelled Saturday night.
- Outbound train 8337, scheduled to depart Millennium Station at 10:40 p.m., will be cancelled Saturday night.
- Outbound train 8301, scheduled to depart Millennium Station at 4:40 a.m. Sunday morning, will be cancelled.
- Inbound train 8302, scheduled to depart 93rd Street at 5:39 a.m. Sunday morning, will be cancelled.
Regular service will resume beginning on Sunday morning for the Electric Line trains, and regular service will resume after the first trains of the day for South Chicago trains.
