Street Closures, Transit Reroutes After Mercy Hospital Shooting

Four people, including a Chicago police officer and the suspected gunman, were said to be in critical condition

Several streets were shut down and buses were rerouted after multiple people were shot at Mercy Hospital Monday afternoon.

The shots were fired about 3:28 p.m. near 26th Street and Michigan.

Police flooded the scene near the hospital as authorities searched for the alleged gunman, who was believed to have been shot. 

Ambulances with police escorts were seen leaving the hospital. 

Police asked that people avoid area.

The following closures were reported as of 5 p.m.:

Exit ramp closed

I-55 North at King Dr

CTA Bus Route No. 21

Due to the police activity taking place around Mercy Hospital, route #21 Cermak was temporarily rerouted eastbound. Emergency responders also requested warming buses, which are currently on the scene.
