Two good Samaritans rescued a 4-year-old boy Friday from the clutches of his would-be captor in Woodstock, police say.
Kevin Sorensen, a 39-year-old child sex offender, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated criminal sexual abuse and unlawful restraint, according to the Woodstock Police Department.
Sorensen pulled the boy off his bike near Olson Play Park near Clay and Bagley streets and began to run off with him about 12:43 p.m., police said. The boy and his friends began to scream, alerting nearby adults. Two people “physically freed” the boy from Sorensen’s grip, police said. They held Sorensen down until police arrived on the scene and took him into custody.
Officers initially responded to the area for a report of a fight in progress.
Police said Sorensen was no longer required to register as a child sex offender before the incident.
He was taken to McHenry County Jail to away a bond hearing. A court date had not been set yet.
