Mega Millions: Two People Matched 5 of 6 Winning Numbers in Illinois

Mega Millions says 15 tickets matched five out of the six numbers in Friday night’s drawing—and two of those tickets were sold in Illinois.

This means each individual won $1 million.

According to a spokeswoman, one of the million-dollar winning tickets was sold at the 6500 S. Kedzie Ave. Chicago gas station and the other one was sold at an Oak Forest liquor store at 5214 W. 159 St.

Mega Millions officials say no tickets matched all six numbers to claim the estimated $1 billion grand prize in Friday night's drawing. The numbers were 15, 23, 53, 65, 70 and Mega Ball 7.

The now $1.6 billion grand prize is the largest in Mega Millions history and could well be the largest lottery jackpot in US history.

"The Illinois Lottery urges the lucky winner to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they visit one of the Lottery’s five Prize Centers in Chicago, Des Plaines, Rockford, Springfield or Fairview Heights," Mega Millions said in a statement.

Winners have a year from the original drawing date to claim their prize.

The next drawing will be on Tuesday.
