Cook County Department of Public Health officials are warning the public of a confirmed case of the measles in a north suburban resident that could have exposed other residents to the disease.
According to officials, the case was confirmed on Mar. 26, and is no longer contagious. The individual involved may have exposed others before realizing that they were sick, according to a press release from the department.
The department provided a list of locations that the patient visited while they were contagious with the disease:

Symptoms of the measles include fever, rash, cough, runny nose, and red, watery eyes.
Measles can cause serious complications such as pneumonia and encephalitis (swelling of the brain). It is spread through the air when someone coughs or sneezes.
There is no ongoing risk of transmission at the locations listed.
