A child was shot in the back Friday evening in the Southwest Side Marquette Park neighborhood, authorities said.
The boy, who is believed to be younger than 10 years old, was reportedly shot shortly after 7 p.m. in the 7100 block of South Campbell Avenue.
Police said the boy was shot in the back and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and listed in "stable" condition.
A Fire Media Affairs spokesman said the child was not transported by a fire dept. ambulance.
