Marquess Wilson Officially Activated from Injured Reserve

The Chicago Bears' offense hasn't had much to be cheerful about over the past few weeks, but on Friday afternoon the team got some great news as they prepare to face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday at Soldier Field.

That news comes in the form of wide receiver Marquess Wilson, who has missed the team's first nine games because of a broken collarbone that he suffered during training camp.

Wilson was activated by the team from injured reserve by the Bears, and he takes over the roster spot that was vacated by Santonio Holmes when the team waived him earlier this week.

Joining the Bears as a rookie in 2013, Wilson played 10 games and caught just two passes. Coming into this season however, he was looked at as a potential slot receiver for an offense that had two established threats on the outside in Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Those dreams hit a huge snag when Wilson was injured during a training camp practice in Bourbonnais, but coming into the lineup this week could potentially give the Bears a serious boost.

Adding his skillset to the mix should take some pressure off Matt Forte and Martellus Bennett, who have gotten a ton of looks over the middle in Wilson's absence. It will be interesting to see how Marc Trestman chooses to deploy Wilson in his first game, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get a good number of snaps.
