Manny Machado Leaning Toward White Sox, Report Says

The report says someone close to Machado believes he will sign with the South Siders

The Chicago White Sox are looking to take the next step forward in their rebuilding process, and according to at least one report, they could be the frontrunner to land one of the biggest free agents of this offseason.

That report, from Fox Sports’ David Vassegh, indicates that someone close to free agent infielder Manny Machado says that the superstar is planning to sign with the South Siders.

“I talked to someone today very close to Machado, and they think he is signing with the White Sox,” he told Dodger Talk on Fox Sports Radio. “This guy knows Machado better than anyone else I talked to and he feels like he is going to sign with the White Sox.”

That report seems to bolster another report by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, who said that the White Sox are “more engaged” on Machado than they are on Bryce Harper. Nightengale says that the White Sox have officially made an offer to the infielder, but have not made a formal offer to Harper.
