The baseball world is on pins and needles waiting for Manny Machado to pick his free agency destination, but the superstar’s agent launched an all-out blitz against rumors surrounding the offers his client has been getting.

On Wednesday, Machado’s agent Dan Lozano called reports that the White Sox had offered a seven or eight-year deal to his client “completely wrong,” and said that several rumors put out by reporters, including USA Today’s Bob Nightengale and ESPN’s Buster Olney, have been “inaccurate and reckless.”

“I am well aware that the entire baseball universe is starved for information about this free agent market for all players, including Manny,” he said. “But I am not going to continue to watch the press be manipulated into tampering with, not just with my client, but all of these players’ livelihoods as they have been doing this entire offseason.”

Reports this week have swirled that the White Sox have offered Machado a contract of seven or eight years, with a reported annual value of $25 million per season.

It is unclear when Machado will sign with a team, but spring training is looming just around a month away.
