Man Stabbed at O'Hare Airport: Police

A man was stabbed at O'Hare International Airport early Wednesday, according to Chicago police.

Authorities said the incident took place at around 3:22 a.m. on the walkway bridge from Terminal 5 to the ground-level parking lot.

Two men, ages 56 and 57, who have been known to solicit passengers for cab riders were arguing in the lower level of Terminal 5 and took the escalator to the parking lot level when the older man took out a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen, officials said.

The victim was attempting to defend himself by hitting the other man with a safety cone, according to police, when a law enforcement officer in the area saw what was happening and called for assistance.

The victim was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in stable condition, authorities said. The man accused in the attack was taken into custody, according to police, and charges were pending.

No passengers or personnel were involved in the altercation, according to police, who said the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
