Man Slashed Woman's Tire, Led Officers to Xanax Stash in Oswego

A search of the car turned up cannabis, drug paraphernalia and pills labeled as “Sweet Tarts” which lab tests confirmed were laced with Xanax

Two men have been charged after one of them slashed the tires on a woman’s car earlier this year in west suburban Oswego, leading police to a vehicle that had drugs in it, authorities said.

About 7:25 p.m. on March 20, a woman called police about a man who slashed her tire in the 2500 block of Light Road in Oswego “following a verbal altercation about driving dangerously,”according to the Kendall County sheriff’s office.

Officers tracked down a vehicle nearby matching a description given by a witness, and a man ran away from the scene, police said.

A search of the car turned up cannabis, drug paraphernalia and pills labeled as “Sweet Tarts” which lab tests confirmed were laced with Xanax, police said.

The accused tire-slasher was identified as 22-year-old Shorewood resident Kyle Scheuerlein. He faces misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and resisting arrest.  A $5,000 bond was issued for him, though he has been held on a $500,000 bond at the Will County Adult Detention Facility since June on an unrelated burglary charge.

The drugs in the car were traced to 28-year-old Aurora resident Timothy Trammell, police said. He faces a felony possession charge and two misdemeanors, and his bond was set at $7,500, authorities said.

Both men were charged July 29, a delay of more than four months after the incident that police said was due to waiting for lab results.
