Police are looking for a gunman who shot a man in Chicago’s Grant Park Wednesday night.
Authorities believe the shooting broke out after a group of people were dropped off by a party bus and got into a fight with another group who had been standing near Buckingham Fountain.
Someone then pulled out a gun and shot a 23-year-old man in the thigh, according to police. He was transported to Northwestern Hospital in fair condition.
Doris Ventura told NBC 5 she was in town visiting from California walking through the scenic downtown destination at the time.
“When we got to the fountain we had no idea there was just a shooting,” Ventura said.
The shooting at the popular tourist attraction caps off a violent month in the city, with 472 people shot in the month of August and a reported 90 murders.
No weapons were found at the scene near Buckingham Fountain, police said. No one is in custody.
