Man Named Dollar Charged With Robbing North Side Bank of $2K

The man was charged with stealing almost $2,000 from MB Financial Bank in North Center

A Chicago man whose last name is Dollar was charged with stealing almost $2,000 from a North Center bank Tuesday morning.

Larry Dollar, 43, entered the MB Financial Bank at 3940 North Damen at about 10:15 a.m., poured himself a cup of coffee and then left, the FBI says in a press release. He returned a few minutes later to demand $10,000 from an employee and announce he had a gun, according to the FBI.

The bank employee gave Dollar $1,960 before Dollar fled the bank on foot, the FBI says. Chicago police caught up with him a few blocks from the bank and took him into custody, according to the FBI.

Dollar, of the 4500 block of North Hazel Street, was charged with one felony count of bank robbery. He is scheduled to appear next in court March 17 and faces up to 20 years in prison.
