Man Killed, Woman Injured in Tri-State Hit-and-Run Crash

The other vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene, according to police

A 43-year-old man is dead and a 51-year-old woman is hurt after a hit-and-run crash on the Tri-State Tollway, officials say.

According to a press release from the Illinois State Police, 43-year-old Michael Black of Chicago was driving a vehicle on the tollway at approximately 12:11 a.m. when it was struck by another unknown vehicle. The impact caused Black’s vehicle to strike the center median wall at milepost 41 in suburban Rosemont.

Black, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at an area hospital. His passenger, a 51-year-old woman, was transported to another hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, which police have not been able to identify at this time, fled the scene, and authorities are searching for information on the car’s whereabouts.
