Man Killed, Struck by Vehicle on I-94

No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor, police said

A man was fatally struck by a car on Interstate 94 early Saturday morning on the Far South South Side, according to police.

A 60-year-old man was driving his 2007 Black Buick Sedan southbound in the far left lane around 4:57 a.m. on I-94 near 115 Street, when he suddenly saw a man wearing a grey sweater step in front of his car, according to Illinois State Police.

The pedestrian was struck by the car and died from injuries on site.

All southbound lanes at 115 Street were immediately closed and remained so throughout the morning, police said.

No alcohol or drugs were suspected to be a factor, police said, and the driver was wearing his seatbelt.

The investigation remains ongoing.
