Man in Custody After Chase, Crash Near Guaranteed Rate Field

The man refused to stop after a traffic violation, according to police

Chicago police apprehended a 20-year-old man after a chase ended near Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday afternoon.

According to authorities, officers tried to pull over the vehicle for a traffic violation on Thursday when the man began to speed away. After a brief chase, the man was involved in a traffic accident, striking a gate near the player’s entrance to the ballpark in the 3600 block of South Princeton, according to police.

The man was taken to Mercy Hospital in good condition and is in police custody.

A woman was also in the vehicle, and she was treated on the scene, according to authorities. No one else was injured in the crash.

Charges have not been filed against the driver of the vehicle.
