Man Found ‘Severely Burned' Behind Oswego Business Dies

The victim's autopsy was conducted Saturday morning

A man who was found severely burned behind a business in a suburban strip mall Friday has died, police confirmed Saturday.

Oswego police said officers responding to a call of a body in a snowbank Friday morning found a man in the 2500 block of Route 34 who “appeared to have been severely burned.”

A gas can and remnants of an igniter were found near the man, officials said.

"The man had severe burns over much of his body and face," police said in a release. 

The deceased man was identified by authorities as 53-year-old Homer Wilson.

Moreover, the man was taken to an area hospital with critical injuries and later airlifted to Loyola Hospital where police say he later succumed to his injuries.

The victim's autopsy was conducted Saturday morning.

"It is believed to be an isolated event and does not present a safety issue to the public," police said. 

A preliminary investigation dis not indicate foul play or that the incident was accidental in nature, however the ionvestigation will remain open until final autopsy results are received, police said.
