Man Fatally Struck by Train in North Chicago

The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, the fire department said

A man was fatally struck by a Union Pacific North line train Tuesday night in North Chicago.

Train 341 struck the man about 6 p.m. as he was using a pedestrian crossing at the North Chicago station, according to the North Chicago Fire Department and Metra.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, the fire department said.

The train, scheduled to arrive in Kenosha at 6:27 p.m., was stopped near North Chicago for an investigation, Metra said. The train was not scheduled to stop at the station when it struck the man.
