A man died several days after he was struck by a vehicle in Chicago Lawn on the Southwest Side.
Agustin Alfaro, 59, was crossing the street when a driver struck him while turning left from 65th Street onto Kedzie Avenue, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
The crash happened about 7:50 a.m. on July 10, authorities said. Alfaro was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died five days later on July 15, the medical examiner’s office said.
The 26-year-old female driver of the Chevy Malibu was issued citations for failing to reduce speed and striking a pedestrian in the roadway, police said.
An autopsy released Thursday found Alfaro died of multiple injuries from the crash, with heart disease as a contributing factor, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled accidental.
The Chicago police Major Accidents unit was investigating the crash.
