Man Charged With Murder in Police-Involved Shooting

Miguel Ruiz is charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony murder

A Chicago man has been charged in connection with a homicide and a police-involved shooting, according to News Affairs.

Miguel Ruiz, 20, of the 4600 block of North Central Park was charged with first-degree murder and felony murder, according to News Affairs in a release.

Albany Park tactical officers responded at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday to a call of shots fired and a person shot. A 19-year-old male victim was shot and killed in the vicinity of the 4900 block of North Troy, according to reports.

When the officers arrived on the scene, they saw a vehicle matching the description from the shooting fleeing the area.

Ruiz was believed to be driving. The passenger exited the vehicle on the 5300 block of North Kedzie and fired shots at police. The officers returned fire at the passenger, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

No officers were reported injured, according to a statement from News Affairs.
