Man Charged With Stabbing Another Man at Wauconda Party

The victim was hospitalized after the incident with non-life-threatening injuries

A Round Lake Park man has been charged with stabbing another man during a party in suburban Wauconda late Saturday night.

Lake County sheriff's deputies were initially called to the residence in the 27600 block of West Case Road at about 11:10 p.m. for a report that someone had been shot, authorities said. When they arrived, however, they found a man had been stabbed, not shot.

Roberto Tinajero, 46, allegedly got into an argument with the victim while they were at a party, the sheriff's office said. During the argument, Tinajero took out a knife and stabbed the other man in the left side of his stomach.

The victim was taken to Condell Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Tinajero, of the 400 block of Linden Drive in Round Lake Park, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, both felony charges.

Tinajero is being held at the Lake County Jail on $250,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court next on Sept. 14.
