Man Caught on Camera Robbing Woman at Gunpoint After Crash

Police are still searching for the man in the footage, authorities said

Police in a north Chicago suburb are warning residents after a man was caught on camera robbing a woman following a car crash late last month, authorities said.

The footage was posted to Facebook Monday by Waukegan police, who say the robbery took place around 11 a.m. on May 24 in the 1800 block of Belvidere Road

The man, who police say they are still looking for, is seen in the video rear-ending a white vehicle sitting at a stop sign just outside a bank.

The woman in the white Nissan gets out of the vehicle and speaks to the man, who then goes back into his car to back his vehicle off her car, footage shows. The man exits his car a second time, now carrying a gun, walks over to the woman’s car and steals her purse. He then gets back into his car and flees the scene eastbound on Belvidere Road, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident or the man involved to call the Waukegan Police Department Tip Line at (847) 360-9001.
