Man Arrested For Sexual Assault of Housekeeper at Oak Brook Hotel

The suspect was arrested in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood

Police on Chicago's West Side arrested a man who hours earlier allegedly sexually assaulted a housekeeper at a hotel in west suburban Oak Brook, police said.

At around noon, the 38-year-old armed suspect cornered a 20-year-old housekeeper at the Hyatt House located at 210 W. 22nd St., according to Oak Brook police.

According to police, the victim had been on the phone with her boyfriend as the attack began and immediately became alarmed by what he heard.

Authorities say the boyfriend then called the hotel's front desk and a staff member proceeded to call 911.

The suspect was staying with family members at the hotel at the time, and later arrested in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood.

Police carted out clothes belonging to either the suspect or his family at around 5 p.m. on Monday. Officials said the family was staying at the hotel because of a fire at their home in Chicago.

Among other crimes, police said the suspect had previously been arrested for domestic violence.

Hyatt House has referred all questions to police.
