Two more people have been charged in connection with an attack in which more than a dozen of people, mostly teenagers, beat three people last week on a Red Line platform on the Near North Side.
On Tuesday, 18-year-old Michael Sardin and a 15-year-old boy were charged with felony aggravated battery and mob action for the Dec. 29 attack at the State/Chicago Red Line station, according to Chicago police.
Police said Sardin turned himself in after learning that he was being sought in a community alert issued by CPD. He was the first adult to face charges related to this incident.
The teen was arrested after he was identified by a witness as being involved in the attack, police said.
Sardin and the boy, along with 10 to 12 other offenders, were seen on surveillance footage kicking and punching two victims multiple times.
The victims were waiting for a train about 7:30 p.m. at the station when the group of teens stepped onto the platform, police said. One of the people in the group asked a 26-year-old man if he was recording them, which he denied.
The horde of teens then approached the man, a 29-year-old woman and her 28-year-old boyfriend and started punching them, according to police and the victims.
All three were treated at the scene for bruising and lacerations, according to Chicago Fire Media Affairs.
Another 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy, who were arrested on Jan. 3, were facing the same charges.

The 28-year-old, who has lived in Chicago for three years, said he later went to University of Illinois Hospital, where he learned that his eye socket was fractured.
In the days following the attack, authorities released surveillance photos of multiple suspects.
Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) said in a statement last week that additional arrests in the case were “anticipated.”
Sardin, who lives in the Gresham neighborhood, appeared in bond court Tuesday where his bond was set at $5,000, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. He is scheduled for another court date Jan. 14.
The 15-year-old charged Tuesday was scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday. None of the teens were identified because they are juveniles.
