Man, 20, Dies After Jumping Into Chicago River

He jumped in the water off the Columbus Drive before his body was pulled out by the Chicago Police Department’s Marine Unit

A man died after jumping into the Chicago River downtown late Thursday.

The 20-year-old was out with friends around 11:30 p.m., according to police, when he decided he wanted to go for a swim in the river.

Emergency responders tried to use CPR to revive the man, but he was later pronounced dead after being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
