A man died after jumping into the Chicago River downtown late Thursday.
The 20-year-old was out with friends around 11:30 p.m., according to police, when he decided he wanted to go for a swim in the river.
He jumped in the water off the Columbus Drive before his body was pulled out by the Chicago Police Department’s Marine Unit.
Emergency responders tried to use CPR to revive the man, but he was later pronounced dead after being taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, police said.
