Mag Mile Resurfacing Begins Wednesday

That means construction hurdles on one very busy Chicago roadway

Michigan Avenue could feel a bit more hectic for the next month and a half.

Chicago Department of Transportation crews on Wednesday began resurfacing and repairing part of the Mag Mile from Illinois Street to Oak Street and Inner Lake Shore Drive from Oak to Division Street.

The project is expected to continue through mid-November, according to CDOT.

During that time, one or two lanes on Michigan and Inner Lake Shore will be closed as crews remove old asphalt, adjust utility structures to the level of the new roadway and put new asphalt into place.

The project is part of the department's annual street-repair program and includes patching curbs and sidewalks, adjusting manholes and generally improving the roadway.

Parking restrictions will be in place throughout work zones, noted by posted signs, according to CDOT. Restrictions will include some streets crossing Michigan Avenue.

Though CTA buses won't be rerouted, a few stops could be moved.
