“Lunch Bag Bandit” Robs Same Bank Twice

FBI: Thief has hit at least six area banks

The FBI is hunting a bank robber who's struck at least six Chicago banks in recent months -- even robbing the same bank twice.

The "lunch bag bandit" -- so-called because of the brown paper bag he uses during the armed robberies -- most recently struck at the Metropolitan Bank branch at 4800 West 24th Place on Feb. 17 and again on Feb. 20.

The thief is described as a Hispanic man, 25 to 30 years old and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. He has a stocky build, dark hair and a goatee. Anyone with information about the robber should call the Chicago FBI at (312) 421-6700.
